Chess pawns are planning to escape and cactuses are exploding. It is not an easy life for worms on a hook either. All this and more in Absenthia comic strips.

Absenthia is created by a Finnish cartoonist Jukka Hytönen. His illustrations can be found in publications since 1991.

– The name of these comic strips comes from the Latin language. "Absentia" refers to the absence. Written in an invented word to "Absenthia" it could mean a country or a place where there something is missing. And what then is missing? People. All the characters are objects, plants, animals or mythical creatures. Even if people are not seen, their actions reflect to this world.
